GUWAHATI: The Indian LPG tanker Nanda Devi arrived off Vadinar Port in Gujarat early on Tuesday, March 17, carrying around 46,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), marking the second such shipment to reach India in two days amid supply concerns linked to tensions in West Asia.

The arrival follows that of Shivalik, which delivered approximately 40,000 metric tonnes of LPG to Mundra Port on Monday. The back-to-back shipments are expected to ease pressure on domestic LPG supplies.

Nanda Devi departed from Qatar and safely navigated the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor, under coordinated security arrangements involving the Indian Navy and regional stakeholders.

According to officials, the vessel will not dock at port but will remain offshore near Vadinar, where it will undertake a mid-sea transfer of its cargo to MT BW Breeze and MT Jag Pratap. The two vessels will then transport the LPG to Tamil Nadu to expedite distribution.

The development comes amid disruptions to shipping routes in the Gulf region due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. Authorities said India is closely monitoring the situation, with several Indian-flagged vessels currently operating in the Persian Gulf.

Meanwhile, another Indian-flagged tanker, Jag Laadki, carrying crude oil from the UAE, is reported to be safely en route to India.
