The accused have been identified as Alauddin (32), Zakir Hussain (42), Habibuddin (32), Muzammil Haq (27), Hachen Ali (37), and Minarul (32). All six were taken into custody after being questioned at the Perumbavoor police station.

The victim, Nur Hussain (25), was employed at the same plywood company as the accused. According to investigators, all individuals involved were migrant labourers from Assam and were residing together in shared accommodation near their workplace.

Police said the incident occurred at their residence earlier in the day, when the group allegedly confronted Nur Hussain over suspicions that he had attempted to steal a mobile phone. The situation reportedly escalated, leading to a physical assault.

Following the attack, the accused reportedly took the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Hospital authorities subsequently alerted the police.

A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and individual roles in the incident, officials added.
