According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at around 10:45 AM when the woman, who lived under the flyover, set herself on fire in full public view. Passersby rushed to her aid, trying desperately to control the flames using blankets and other available materials.
Despite the severity of the situation, no ambulance arrived at the scene even after repeated calls for medical assistance, leaving the injured woman without immediate professional care. Concerned citizens present at the spot questioned the delay, expressing frustration over the apparent lack of urgency in such a critical situation.
Speaking to GPlus, a traffic official deployed nearby said, “We have informed the station,” but could not provide clarity on why emergency medical services failed to reach the location in time.
Eventually, a police patrolling vehicle reached the spot after over an hour and transported the woman to a hospital, further highlighting the absence of a prompt ambulance response. Many questioned the preparedness of the city’s emergency response mechanism, especially in a busy area like Ulubari, where timely intervention could make the difference between life and death.
