Cannes Film Festival 2026 Overview

The Cannes Film Festival is set to take place from May 12 to 23, 2026, and will kick off with the French film The Electric Kiss , directed by Pierre Salvadori.

The complete competition lineup was revealed on April 9, showcasing a mix of renowned filmmakers and indie talents. Esteemed directors such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Asghar Farhadi, and Pedro Almodovar are part of the selection, alongside emerging voices like Ira Sachs. Notably, actor John Travolta will present his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way, a tribute to his late son Jett, which will later be available on Apple TV.

Park Chan-wook, the director of No Other Choice, will serve as the jury president. Additionally, Peter Jackson and Barbra Streisand will receive honorary Palme d'Or awards. Among the standout films this year is Ira Sachs' The Man I Love, a poignant drama centered on the AIDS crisis in 1980s New York, featuring a talented cast including Rami Malek and Rebecca Hall. Farhadi's second French film, Parallel Stories, will also debut, showcasing stars like Isabelle Huppert and Vincent Cassel.
