Umesh Meti is the son of the late Congress leader Meti Hullappa Yemanappa (HY Meti), who previously represented the Bagalkot seat, while Samarth Mallikarjun is the son of Karnataka minister S.S. Mallikarjun. The BJP has fielded Veerabhadrayya Charantimath and Srinivas T. Dasakariappa as candidates for Bagalkot and Davanagere South, respectively.
