Usha Mangeshkar, the youngest sister of the legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, recently shared her heartfelt memories of her late siblings.
At 90 years old, Usha, who is also a talented singer known for her devotional tracks in the film Jai Santoshi Maa (1975), expressed her sorrow during the 18th Newsmakers Awards 2026 held in Mumbai on May 1. She reflected on the musical legacy left by Lata and Asha, who both passed away at the age of 92, with Asha's recent death occurring on April 12, 2026.
Emotional Reflections on Family Loss
During the event, Usha was asked about the emotional void created by the loss of her sisters. She stated, "In the last 8 years, I lost two of my elder sisters. I'm shocked, and the entire nation is mourning the loss of these two iconic singers. India will not witness such legends again." Usha further conveyed her feelings of loneliness and sadness, reminiscing about their shared childhood and the deep bond they had. "I have countless memories with them. Growing up together means there are many memories to cherish. It's impossible to share everything," she added. Usha emphasized the importance of stepping out to combat feelings of isolation.
