Haridwar/Chandigarh, May 1, 2026:

In a notable advancement for promoting international cooperation in the domains of education, research, and notably in the field of integrative health sciences, Patanjali Research Foundation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia's esteemed Southern Cross University. This MoU is a continuation of the roundtable discussion held yesterday at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi. This accord signifies a strategic effort to cultivate enduring, impact-oriented, and evidence-based collaborations between the two entities, thereby facilitating the integration of traditional knowledge systems with contemporary scientific progress on an international scale.

On this special occasion, Acharya Balkrishna highlighted that Patanjali has been at the forefront towards integrating Ayurveda, naturopathy, and modern scientific research. Southern Cross University, a notable institution in New South Wales, Australia, is dedicated for advancing education, research, and innovation through this partnership. He also noted that the collaboration will unite the expertise of both institutions and create a strong foundation for addressing global health challenges. Also, this collaboration will not only enhance academic excellence but also ensure meaningful contributions to health, science, and society at large.

He highlighted that Ayurveda is not merely a treatment system but a holistic science of life. Its impact increases significantly when combined with modern scientific research. He emphasized Patanjali's role in demonstrating India's immense, largely unexplored potential globally, through this international partnership, as a vital advancement.

Professor Ben Roche, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research & Education Impact), Southern Cross University, stated that the main objective of this agreement is to foster collaboration in research, teaching, and student exchange. Both institutions will collaborate to explore research topics connecting Ayurveda with contemporary medical science. This partnership abridge ancient knowledge and modern science. It will also help validate traditional wisdom scientifically and establish new standards in evidence-based medicine.

Professor Jon Wardle, Foundation Director of the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine, further explained that under this agreement, both institutions will jointly develop research initiatives, seek competitive and government funding, and foster international research publications.

He also highlighted that this international collaboration forms the foundation of contemporary research and education, and this partnership is set to enhance knowledge exchange and foster innovation at unprecedented levels.

On this occasion, Patanjali's lead scientist, Dr. Anurag Varshney, stated that presenting traditional knowledge with scientific evidence is the need of the hour. This collaboration will establish new benchmarks in research and innovation, and both institutions will work together to develop effective, evidence-based solutions for global health challenges.
This MoU marks an inspiring step towards global collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development. It sets a powerful example for the world, demonstrating how integrating diverse knowledge systems and cultures can help build a healthier, more prosperous, as well as inclusive future.
