New Delhi: Meta has officially released its latest feature in its Threads application, which is called Live Chats, to make conversations on the platform immediate and more interactive for users. This feature enables users to join the public group discussions during the major events as they happen, rather than reacting after everything is over.
This is specially designed to bring people together around shared moments like sports matches, music releases, and other trending topics, while they are still unfolding.
With the latest Live Chats, Threads is trying to shift more towards real-time engagement and community-driven conversations on its platform.
Live Chats are public, real-time group conversations built around the ongoing events.
Unlike those regular group chats, these are specifically designed to feel more dynamic and interactive. Users can see when the chat is live via a red ring around the host’s profile. It also includes tools like live polls, countdowns, typing indicators, and even live game scores. To keep conversations more active and in sync with what is happening in real time.
Users can find Live Chats at the top of the NBAThreads Community feed or via links shared on their main Threads feed. Once a user is inside, they can send messages, share photos, videos, and links, and react by using emojis.
Only selected creators and Community Champions can host Live Chats. They can also schedule the session by selecting the option within their community, setting the time, and inviting participants. These chats can also be shared on Threads and Instagram Stories to attract more users.
Threads are going to include more features in the future, which include co-hosting options, play-by-play upgrades, lock-screen widgets, and the ability to share chat messages on feeds.
Threads also plans to expand Live Chats gradually, by using early feedback to improve the experience before wider rollout.
