Delhi Govt Schools Enter Summer Break from May 11; Remedial Classes for Classes 9, 10, 12

New Delhi, 08 May (H.S.):

The Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, announced summer vacations for government schools from May 11 to June 30. However, remedial classes for Class 9, 10, and 12 students will continue during this period.

The Directorate issued a circular Friday to principals of all government schools under its jurisdiction, directing them to conduct remedial classes for these classes from May 11 to June 30, with sessions running per schedule from May 11 to 23, after which vacation applies to these students.

In double-shift schools, remedial classes will operate separately in each wing from Monday to Saturday. Classes run 7:30 am to 10:30 am for students (teachers: 7:20 am to 11:00 am), with each period lasting one hour. Special emphasis on Science and Mathematics for Classes 9 and 10; principals (HOS) may select additional subjects based on academic needs, results analysis, and teacher availability.

For Class 12, subjects will be determined by department heads per student requirements. Principals must prepare and submit timetables to respective department heads (zones) before vacation begins. Students must wear school uniform; attendance recorded online. Parental consent (NOC) mandatory for participation. Library facilities remain open for book distribution. Guest/contract teachers for relevant classes may be called; appoint them if regular teachers unavailable. Regular staff/teachers on duty earn CCS leave rules-equivalent earned leave; guest teachers receive prevailing remuneration.
