Indian Contingent Departs for Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Tournament; Jayant Chaudhary Extends Best Wishes

New Delhi, May 25 (H.S.): The Indian contingent participating in the Taipei Capital Cup WorldSkills Invitational Tournament, scheduled to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from May 26 to 28, departed for Taiwan on Monday.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary flagged off the team in New Delhi and extended his best wishes, encouraging them to represent India with confidence and discipline.

On the occasion, Secretary of the Ministry Debashree Mukherjee, NSDC CEO Arunkumar Pillai, and other senior officials were also present.

The five-member Indian team will compete with participants from around 15 countries in this international vocational and technical skills competition. The event is being held as a warm-up competition ahead of WorldSkills Shanghai. The aim of the tournament is to promote global skills development, technical excellence, international cooperation, and workforce innovation, while also providing participants with real competitive international exposure.

Addressing the participants, Chaudhary said they should represent India with confidence, discipline, and excellence, and use this opportunity to learn from global best practices and international competition standards. He added that such competitions not only enhance technical abilities but also strengthen India's skill ecosystem and prepare youth for emerging global opportunities.

He further said he was pleased to interact with Team India, noting that such global platforms are not only about winning medals but also about gaining experiences that build confidence, broaden perspectives, and create lifelong memories.

India will participate in five skill categories. The representatives include Arjun Sumathi Vijaybhaskar in Mobile Application Development, Mohammed Mafaz Poonakannan Rabi Ahmed in Software Application Development, Muskan in Painting and Decorating, Mohammed Siraj in Automobile Technology, and Suresh Kumar Ganeshan Meena in Digital Construction.

The team comprises gold medallists from the IndiaSkills National Competition 2025-26 as well as participants selected through a wildcard entry process.

This year's competition includes 10 skill categories related to smart manufacturing and digital transformation, including Industrial Mechanics, IT Network Systems Administration, Mobile Application Development, Industry 4.0, Automobile Technology, and Digital Construction (BIM).
