India's Exports Up 13.78 Per Cent to $43.56 Billion in April

New Delhi, 15 May (H.S.):

Despite the West Asia crisis and broader global challenges, India's exports in April rose 13.78 per cent year-on-year to $43.56 billion.

However, due to a 10-per-cent increase in imports, the trade deficit also widened to $28.38 billion.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal said imports in April rose 10 per cent compared with the same month last year, reaching $71.94 billion. The trade deficit for the month stood at $28.38 billion. Both India's total exports and imports witnessed growth during the period. Agarwal noted that exports to West Asia in the previous month fell sharply by 28 per cent to $4.16 billion, down from $5.78 billion in April 2025. He added that imports from West Asia in April fell 31.64 per cent year-on-year to $10.47 billion, compared with $15.32 billion in the same month last year.
