Jammu and kashmir Youth Festival oranized



Jammu, 11 october, (HS): With an aim to send a message of peace, prosperity, communal harmony and national integration in the state, 'Sangam Youth Festival' is being organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with Jammu University Campus, Bhadarwah wef 11-15 Oct 19. For the first time more than 1500 students from 32 different colleges and University Campuses across Jammu division have participated in this mega event. Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GOC-in-C, Northern Command and Mrs Kalpana Singh graced the ceremony with their benign presence as the chief guest and inaugurated the ceremony on 11 Oct 19. Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, GOC White Knight Corps, Maj Gen Ravi Murugan, GOC Delta Force, Brig NJ Singh, Cdr, Sector HQ and a large number of officers from Army, civil administration, police, teachers, students and locals from various villages witnessed the gala event.

The event brought to fore the raw talent available amongst the youth in this region, especially from remote areas of Pir Panjal and gave them an opportunity to showcase their talent in various domains of sports, culture and fine arts. This unique festival also provides students with an opportunity to get a common platform to interact with one another and learn good values and an appreciation of the local cultural heritage. A total of 35 events (outdoor and indoor activities) have been planned during this five days mega festival.

The traditional folk dance and cultural programmes performed by students of various schools mesmerized the audience and a wonderful display by the Military Band galvanized the patriotic fervor amongst the spectators. The chief guest expressed his happiness on the enthusiasm and motivation of the participating students and complimented the locals for making the event a grand success and was convinced that such events help in honing the hidden talent of the state while enhancing the coordination and synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and the AWAM.
