Juvenile room inaugurated at Tikri
Jammu, January 19 (HS): SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey today inaugurated Juvenile room at Tikri Police post in Udhampur District.
The inaugural function of Juvenile room at Police post Tikri, Udhampur was attended by Member of Juvenile Justice Board, Jasmine, Dy SP Hqrs. Udhampur, Dr. Rohit Chadgal, Insp. Virender Gupta and many more. SSP Udhampur, while speaking on the occasion said that the first contact which a juvenile in conflict with law faces is police and it was the responsibility of the police to ensure protection of the juvenile and compliance of all the legal parameters pertaining to juvenile justice. A humanitarian approach needed to be adopted for such juveniles which was important to reform them and segregate them from the criminals.
He stressed upon officers to follow proper legal procedures and said that modalities are to be worked out in this regard as juvenile justice was not only part & parcel of our duty but social obligation.
He further added that, this was the first Juvenile room in the District Udhampur. "We need to treat these children with more compassion as if they were our own children," SSP Udhampur said.
