Major terror plot backed by Pak army foiled

Poonch, 22 March, (HS) : A Major BAT Action was foiled by Alert Indian Troops in Degwar Sector of Poonch District.

Sources said few militants backed by Border Action Team (BAT) of Pakistani Army tried to commit terror attack on a forward post in Degwar sector of Poonch district early this morning prompting immediate retaliation by the Indian Army in which 6 Militants were killed.

Sources said Pakistan army was regularly resorting to mortar shelling and firing on the LoC in Poonch district and only a day before a mortar shell landed in a field near BJP Office in Poonch town but didn't explode.

Sources said early this morning, Pakistan army tried to facilitate infiltration of 6-12 militants and BAT commandos into the Indian territory from Degwar sector of Poonch. The Indian troops, noticed movement of infiltrators and later fired on them but on the same time Pakistani Army opened firing from their forward posts to facilitate infiltration, leading to exchange of fire. In Indian Army action 4-6 Militants were killed.

Army Sources said a major terror plot of Pakistani Army was foiled with the killing these militants.

Defense PRO Col. Devinder Anand however did not commented over the issue.
