D eepinder Goyal-backed Temple has acquired evidence-based Longevous as it builds its clinical and scientific capabilities ahead of its launch, Goyal announced the acquisition in a post on X on Thursday. As part of the acquisition, London-headquartered Longevous founders Dr Robert Mohr and Dr Avi Roy, along with their team, will join Temple full-time. Mohr has been appointed Chief Medical Officer at Temple. He is a board-certified physician with nearly two decades of clinical experience and previously worked in emergency medicine before moving into evidence-based longevity medicine. Roy has joined as Head of Science. He is an Oxford-trained biomedical scientist and has worked at the intersection of longevity science and business. He is a co-founder of Founders Health and UDA and was previously a research fellow at the Centre for the Advancement of Sustainable Medical Innovation at the University of Oxford. According to Goyal, Mohr and Roy had been testing Temple for two months and worked with its science team to pressure-test its Entropy technology and the data it collects. They also became involved in Temple's validation work and reviewed its first scientific manuscripts before submission. Longevous will continue to operate as part of Temple, while Mohr and Roy will continue to look after its existing clients personally, Goyal said in his tweet. Founded by Goyal in 2024, Temple is preparing for its launch with wearable technology to track physiological and health signals, while building an in-house science team focused on longevity.

N ew York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has issued a warning to car rental companies operating in the city, urging them to ensure transparency about pricing policies to customers. Zohran Mamdani Touts 56 Summonses In a post on the social media platform X on Wednesday, Mamdani said that his administration had issued “56 summonses from 62 inspections” across the city between May and July. “We swept NYC car rental businesses to see if they were clearly disclosing their prices and posting refund policies as our laws require,” he said in the post. Mamdani quoted a post by New York City’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. “Renting a car shouldn’t trap you in a maze of hidden fees and shady policies,” Mamdani said. If the reserved vehicle is unavailable, the business would need to “provide a car that seats as many passengers and meets the consumer's needs.” Bill Ackman Exits Hertz Car rental service Hertz Global Holdings Inc . (NASDAQ:HTZ) was recently in the news as Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman announced that the firm had exited its position in the company, offloading its approximately 15.2 million shares. The number made Hertz Pershing Square’s 10th-largest holding. Hertz also posted its second-quarter earnings report earlier this month, reporting revenue of $2.4 billion, which illustrated a 10% YoY surge during the same period last year and exceeded Wall Street estimates of $2.28 billion. The company’s adjusted loss of 11 cents per share also surpassed the analyst consensus estimate of an EPS loss of 24 cents per share. Meanwhile, Hertz rival Avis Budget Group, Inc. I ndia and Nepal can scale up economic partnership in several sectors, according to industry leaders at a panel discussion on NDTV's Anviksha event. The discussion focused on the topic, "Nepal-India Industry Partnership: Building the Next Growth Corridor." At the event, Vidushi Rana, Member of Nepal's Parliament and Director of Branding and Marketing at Goldstar Shoes, highlighted the historic and cultural ties between the two countries. She claimed that trade with India was Nepal's "biggest economic opportunity" as the two countries share an over 1,700 km-long open border. India And Nepal Can "Co-Produce" Things Rana said that enormous opportunities exist in IT, tourism, hospitality and agroprocessing, but standardisation and certifications remain a big concern. She asked for easier processing of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certifications. Rana was optimistic that India and Nepal can co-produce things together. She said, "India brings scale, capital, digital economy and all of that and Nepal also brings a young population, cheaper labour and clean energy. If we combine these things, we are not just trade partners, we become business partners who co-produce things." According to Agarwal, under the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement, Nepal is exporting products such as soybean oil and importing several items as well. However, he claimed that to develop economic corridors, there is a need to facilitate duty-free access in both countries. "If we go on an unified, economic integrated system, with India giving priority to Nepal and Nepal to India, then we can develop this economic corridor," he stated. Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha, Executive Director, Panchakanya Group, said that energy partnerships can be increased between India and Nepal when it comes to electricity and hydropower. He also cited Nepal's youth population or its Gen-Z as a strength, especially in the IT sector. "We have already surpassed a billion dollars of IT back office work from Nepal, and it's very scalable. That's where the Gen Z population is coming in." He said that the sector could be pivotal to both countries, and many Indian IT firms can have their back offices in Nepal as well. Paras Kharel, Executive Director of the South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, and Environment (SAWTEE), said that there is an opportunity for Nepal to identify small sections within India's supply chain where it can fit in and increase exports. This can feed on to India's exports to the European Union and the US. "Most of Nepal's exports are SMEs, including those that cater to the Indian market," Kharel said, adding that there is potential to scale up there. He called on the Indian and Nepalese governments for more certainty on non-tariff measures such as certification issues.
