HYDERABAD: A key development has emerged in the case of Constable Pramod's murder. The accused, Riyaz, died in an encounter on Monday.

<p style="margin-top: 0px;" ><b><font><strong>Riyaz tried to flee from hospital, snatched constable&apos;s gun before being shot</strong></font></b></p><p>According to police, Riyaz, who was undergoing treatment at a government hospital, attempted to escape custody. During the scuffle, he allegedly tried to snatch a gun from an Armed Reserve constable. The constable sustained injuries in the incident.</p><p>Police opened fire in response, and Riyaz died on the spot. Officials said an inquiry is underway into the sequence of events.</p><nh-chunk-delimit />

<p><b><font><strong>DGP Shivdhar Reddy reacts to encounter</strong></font></b></p><p>Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy said Riaz, convicted in the murder of constable Pramod, once again attacked police personnel and tried to escape from custody. He also said that when police tried to restrain him, Riaz grabbed a weapon and attempted to open fire.</p><p>The DGP added that a civilian named Asif, who had assisted police in tracing Riaz earlier, was attacked and severely injured by him. Asif is now undergoing treatment at a Hyderabad hospital.</p><nh-chunk-delimit />
