Ameenpur residents oppose proposed STP

HYDERABAD: Residents of Ameenpur and nearby colonies launched a campaign to oppose the proposed Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in their neighbourhood.

They cite concerns about environmental pollution, foul odours, and health risks.

The Ameenpur People's Association launched an awareness drive. Volunteers visit colonies to inform residents about the potential impacts of the proposed STP and gather support through a signature campaign. Highlighting specific concerns, the association maintains that building an STP in a residential area will significantly affect residents' quality of life. Members call for authorities to relocate the facility outside residential zones.

The Ameenpur People's Association stated, "Our struggle will not cease until the STP is relocated." As part of their efforts, members visit several colonies in Ameenpur and surrounding areas, including Tripura Enclave, Rao's Colony, Jackie Classic Apartments, and VR Elite Apartments.

During these visits, members discuss the potential adverse effects of the STP with residents, focusing on environmental pollution, persistent odours, and long-term health risks. The association receives strong community support.

Ameenpur People's Association office-bearers Tirumal Reddy (President), Vishnuvardhan Reddy (Vice President), and Naresh (Secretary) lead the campaign. Other active participants include Narasimhulu, Amarender, Naresh Reddy, and Devanand.

Calling for collective action, the association urges all residents of Ameenpur and nearby areas to support the movement. Through door-to-door outreach and the signature campaign, members aim to encourage authorities to reconsider the proposed STP location.
