HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on October 18, 2025, caught an assistant engineer of the electricity department red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 in Ranga Reddy district.
According to ACB officials, Amar Singh, Assistant Engineer at the 33/11 kV Gandhamguda Sub-station, Himayath Sagar Section, Rajendranagar Circle, was trapped in his office while demanding and accepting the bribe amount from a contractor. The money was allegedly sought for doing an official favour the erection of a new transformer at the "ARCK Projects" apartment, a work undertaken by the complainant.
The tainted cash was recovered from Singh's possession at his instance. Officials said the accused officer acted dishonestly and misused his position to obtain undue advantage.
Following the trap, Singh was arrested and produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally. The case is under investigation. The complainant's details have been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has appealed to citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064 or via WhatsApp (9440446106). The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
