HYDERABAD: The government on Thursday appointed senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer
Suresh currently serves as Chief Commissioner in Hyderabad. He will succeed M. Anil Kumar as the head of the Income Tax Department in the two states.
Career spans key roles across major cities
A native of Guntur, Suresh earned a BTech from VR Siddhartha Engineering College. He completed an MBA at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai (now IIM Mumbai). He also holds a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Bristol, UK.

He joined the IRS in 1991 and trained at the National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur.
Over the years, he worked in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Nagpur, Surat and Hyderabad. He also handled key investigation roles in Surat and Hyderabad.
Known for non-adversarial approach
Suresh served as a member of the Dispute Resolution Panel in Hyderabad. Officials say he prefers a non-adversarial approach to resolving complex tax disputes.
Taxpayers, practitioners and officials believe his experience in administration, assessment and investigation will strengthen the department in his new role.
