Census 2027 self-enumeration begins in Telangana; users report portal glitches

HYDERABAD: The self-enumeration process for Census 2027 began across

Officials said the designated portal will remain open daily between 06.00 IST and midnight. In City Urban Regional Entity (CURE) areas-covering Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation-households must mandatorily submit data online.

The self-enumeration form consists of 33 questions covering household composition, caste category, ownership status and number of rooms. Officials said the process typically takes 15-20 minutes to complete.

Once submitted, the system generates a unique 11-digit Self Enumeration ID (SE ID) ending with "H". Residents can save drafts, preview entries, edit details and submit the final form. The SE ID must be shared with enumerators during field verification.

Users report errors during login and submission stages

Several

reported technical issues while accessing the portal.
One user said the website failed to proceed beyond the location identification stage despite multiple attempts.

"Even after completing CAPTCHA and OTP verification, I got stuck after identifying the location. The 'Save & Next' button did not appear," the user said, questioning the reliability of government digital services.

Another

said the process worked on certain browsers but not others. "It does not work on Safari but worked on Chrome. My area's PIN code has changed, but I could locate it using the Aadhaar PIN. Latitude and longitude-based address pinning needed manual correction," the user said.

A third

reported repeated errors at the registration stage and OTP verification. "The page showed errors twice. After entering the correct OTP, it said invalid. I closed the tab in frustration but later completed the process after several attempts," the user said.

Officials have not yet issued a statement on the reported glitches.
