The committee also issued notices to state Planning Board vice-chairman Chinna Reddy, Adilabad Assembly constituency in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy and municipal councillor Sanjay.

The leaders were asked to explain their alleged anti-party activities within three days.

The party has also suspended LB Nagar Congress senior leader Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy. The committee said it acted against Jakkidi after obtaining evidence relating to incidents in which he allegedly abused several people by referring to their caste and making personal remarks.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is understood to be taking a serious view of public differences among party leaders and remarks that could damage the Congress and its government. Party sources said the high command has directed the state leadership to take action against those whose conduct brings disrepute to the party.

Sushmita's remarks put Konda Surekha under scrutiny

Sushmita has previously criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and has again made remarks targeting the chief minister and Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy. The Congress is taking the issue seriously, with party sources questioning how workers could be asked to maintain discipline if a minister's family member publicly criticised the party and government.

PCC sources said the party was also concerned about Sushmita's reported demand for a Congress Assembly ticket despite not having worked directly in the party so far. They said her remarks were viewed as an attempt to pressure the party.

The DAC therefore sought an explanation from Konda Surekha over her daughter's conduct.

Chinna Reddy faces action over ticket allegations

Wanaparthy MLA Megha Reddy complained to the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), DAC and AICC seeking action against Chinna Reddy over his allegation that tickets were given in exchange for money during the last Assembly elections.

PCC sources said the DAC was directed to immediately inquire into the allegations and that the details were also forwarded to the AICC.

Party sources said the AICC was taking a serious view of Chinna Reddy's alleged anti-party activities despite his appointment as state Planning Board vice-chairman after the Congress formed the government.

Chinna Reddy's detractors alleged that he had been seeking an MLC or Rajya Sabha ticket for himself and a party ticket for his son, and that he made the allegations after failing to receive an assurance from the party. These allegations are attributed to his detractors.

The AICC has also sought an explanation from the PCC over allegations by Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy that were seen as putting the government in difficulty. PCC sources said he had been making allegations against the party and government for some time after not being given a ministerial berth. However, the DAC has not sought an explanation from him so far, according to party sources.

Adilabad leaders face notices after public differences

Tensions between Adilabad constituency in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy and municipal councillor Sanjay came into the open at a recent Adilabad district Congress meeting conducted by AICC state secretary Sachin Sawant.

The DAC said their public criticism of each other at the meeting was inappropriate and asked both to explain their conduct within three days.

PCC president Mahesh Kumar told Eenadu that the party would not spare anyone, irrespective of their position, for conduct that damages the Congress. He said the DAC had been directed to conduct inquiries and submit reports.

DAC chairman Mallu Ravi said the committee would conduct inquiries into all the cases and submit its reports to the PCC for further action.
