C.V. Anand appointed Telangana DGP, succeeds as head of police force

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has appointed C.V. Anand as Director General of Police (Head of Police Force), with effect from the date he assumes charge.

The order, issued in G.O.Rt.No. 553 dated April 28, 2026, stated that Anand, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been transferred from his current post as Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department.

UPSC panel recommendations followed in selection

The appointment follows guidelines issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the recommendations of the empanelment committee meeting held on March 11, 2026, in New Delhi.



The order cited UPSC communications dated September 26, 2023, May 3, 2024, and March 12, 2026, as the basis for the selection process.

Appointment carries fixed Apex Scale pay

Anand will serve in the Apex Scale with a fixed pay of ₹2,25,000, as per the notification.

The order was issued by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao in the name of the Governor of Telangana.

Copies of the order have been sent to senior officials, including the Director General of Police, Telangana; Union Public Service Commission; Ministry of Home Affairs; and Chief Secretaries and DGPs of all states and Union Territories.
