HYDERABAD: Cybercriminals are using stolen data to send fake links, make persuasive calls and hack accounts. They also engage in blackmail, drain money from accounts and harass people through so called "digital arrests." A single click, officials warn, is enough to compromise a mobile phone.
Avoid unsafe websites and apps
Police said suspicious websites and apps must never be opened. Terms like "free movies," "free downloads" and "free games" are clear warning signs. Content that appears free may offer brief entertainment but carries long-term risks, they cautioned.
Use only trusted platforms
Officials advised users to rely on trusted websites, avoid unfamiliar links and secure their accounts with strong passwords. Suspicious apps should be deleted immediately to prevent data theft.
The message stressed: personal data is personal security, and protecting it is essential.
