Hyderabad : The Election Commission has appointed Telugu-origin IAS officer Sai Kumar as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, ahead of the Assembly elections.
The Commission transferred incumbent Chief Secretary S Muruganandam and appointed Sai Kumar in his place. Sai Kumar was serving as Chairman of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited.
Senior IAS officer from Telangana cadre background
Sai Kumar, a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, hails from Telangana. He holds a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad.
He began his career as an Assistant Collector and rose through the ranks to reach the top administrative post.
Held key roles in state government and public sector
In 2018, he served as Principal Secretary to then Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. He also held charge as Secretary in the Public Works Department.
Since 2022, he has been serving as Chairman of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited before his latest appointment.
