HYDERABAD: An excise inspector posted in Bichkunda of Kamareddy district was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on April 17, 2026, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2,00,000 from a complainant.
The accused officer, Deenu Satyanarayana, was working as Prohibition and Excise Inspector in Bichkunda. According to ACB officials, he demanded the bribe in return for extending an official favour.
The officer allegedly assured the complainant that he would not pressure him to shift toddy shops from villages. He also agreed to refrain from registering further cases and allow the shops to operate without interference.
Bribe linked to toddy shop operations and enforcement relief
ACB officials said the inspector accepted the amount at his rented residence in Bichkunda. During the operation, officials also found an additional unaccounted sum of ₹45,760 in his possession.
The bureau stated that the officer had "performed his public duties dishonestly and improperly" by accepting undue advantage.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
Accused to be produced before special ACB court
Following the trap, ACB officials arrested the inspector. He will be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally, Hyderabad.
The case is under investigation, officials said.
The ACB has urged citizens to report bribery demands through its toll-free helpline 1064 or via official social media platforms. It assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
