Former POW leader from Suryapet dies after Bathukamma event

HYDERABAD: Parelli Lakshmi, 66, of Rangapuram village in Garidepalli mandal of Suryapet district, was working as a warden at a hostel run by a man named Ramakrishna for women employees of Tata Consultancy Services in Adibatla.

Lakshmi dies in sleep after celebrations

Police said Lakshmi actively participated in the Bathukamma celebrations on Monday night. Later, feeling tired, she went to sleep at the hostel. She died in her sleep, reportedly due to a heart attack. Her family members rushed to Adibatla but found her dead.

Former women's organisation leader

Lakshmi had earlier served as district president of the Progressive Organisation of Women (POW) in Suryapet. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and a son.

Villagers said Lakshmi moved to Hyderabad due to financial difficulties. "She came here to support her family but lost her life at Bathukamma," a villager said. Leaders of POW demanded that the government extend support to her family.
