HYDERABAD: HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath and CMC Commissioner Srujana on Wednesday inspected the Fertilisers Corporation of India (FCI) Employees Cooperative Housing Society layout at Gachibowli following complaints that construction activity was continuing despite a High Court stay.
The inspection was carried out after plot owners alleged that Sandhya Sridhar Rao had continued construction in violation of the court's interim order. Officials examined the site and found that layout roads and park boundaries had allegedly been disturbed through excavation, levelling and dumping of soil.
Officials promise protection for public spaces
The officials said roads, parks and other common areas shown in the approved layout belong to the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. They assured plot owners that the boundaries would be demarcated immediately and that the public spaces would be protected.
They also said legal action would be initiated against those responsible for carrying out construction despite the court's stay order.
Legal action warned for violating court orders
Speaking at the site, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath recalled that several plot owners had earlier lodged complaints through the HYDRAA Prajavani programme, alleging that the original identity of the nearly 20-acre layout comprising 162 plots, developed in the 1980s, was being altered by Sandhya Convention owner Sandhya Sridhar Rao.
He said HYDRAA had earlier acted to protect roads, parks and other land earmarked for public use before the matter reached the High Court, which subsequently issued a stay order.
The commissioner said the court order clearly prohibited construction at the site. However, according to complaints received from plot owners, construction activities, land levelling, excavation and soil filling were continuing without regard to the layout's roads and parks.
HYDRAA officials, CMC officials, the Zonal Commissioner and Town Planning officials also participated in the inspection.
Ranganath warned that legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the High Court's directions. He reiterated that the roads, parks and other public utility spaces in the layout would be protected as they belong to the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. Recent court proceedings have also focused on alleged encroachments and protection of public spaces in the FCI layout.
