Gajwel couple end pregnancy after taking RMP's pills

GAJWEL: A case of female foeticide has been reported in Rajireddipalli under the Gajwel-Prajnapur municipal limits of Siddipet district.

Police said a couple allegedly terminated the pregnancy after taking tablets supplied by an RMP.

Couple already had three children

Police said the couple, daily-wage labourers from Rajireddipalli, already had two daughters and a son. The woman conceived again recently.
According to investigators, the couple learned through unknown means that the foetus was female and decided to terminate the pregnancy.

RMP allegedly gave tablets for ₹1,400

On September 26, the couple reportedly met RMP Ravi in Gajwel and sought medication for terminating the pregnancy.
Police said he allegedly took ₹1,400 and gave a course of tablets. The woman consumed the tablets over three doses.

Foetus expelled in bathroom, buried near tank

On Thursday morning, the foetus was expelled in the bathroom.
The couple put the remains in a plastic bag and buried it near a tank abutting Rajireddipalli.

A sanitation worker, Karunakar, who noticed suspicious activity, questioned them. When their explanation appeared inconsistent, he alerted local authorities.

Police register case

A team comprising police, medical staff and revenue officials exhumed the remains on Friday and sent them for post-mortem.

Gajwel circle inspector Ravikumar said a case has been registered against the couple and the RMP. An investigation is underway.
