HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has proposed two major infrastructure projects to ease chronic traffic congestion between Begumpet and Sardar Patel Road.
Y-shaped flyover planned at Rasoolpura
According to officials, a Y-shaped flyover costing ₹150 crore will come up beside the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited office near Rasoolpura. The structure will be about 850 metres long. One arm will move towards Minister Road with three lanes, while the second arm will head towards Patigadda with two lanes. The flyover is planned as a one-way facility to allow faster movement of vehicles from Panjagutta towards Begumpet, Prakash Nagar and the Rasoolpura junction, especially for commuters heading to Parade Ground and Minister Road.
Patigadda RoB to improve link to PV Narasimha Rao Marg
The second project is a Patigadda Road Overbridge costing ₹108.02 crore. It will begin near Paigah Palace and connect to PV Narasimha Rao Marg. GHMC officials said the bridge would ease traffic between PV Narasimha Rao Marg, James Street, Minister Road and Rasoolpura.

Local residents welcome the projects
Residents of Begumpet, Rasoolpura, Prakash Nagar, Vallabh Nagar, Airlines Colony, Patigadda, Sardar Patel Road and Vikar Nagar said the projects would meet a long-pending demand and reduce daily travel hardships.
Officials added that the plan includes widening Patigadda Road to 100 feet. This will improve capacity on the route from RBI Quarters, past Sanjeevaiah Park railway station, towards PV Narasimha Rao Marg. They noted that Hyderabad's rapid growth over the past decade has sharply increased traffic volumes, prompting GHMC to take up these works.
