Hosting a Foreign National? Hyderabad Police Mandate 24-Hour Reporting Rule

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police on Wednesday directed house owners, hotels, lodges, guest houses, homestays and educational institutions to report foreign nationals staying on their premises within 24 hours of arrival.

Authorities warned that failure to comply could invite legal action under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.

In an advisory, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Golconda Zone) G Chandra Mohan said accommodation providers must furnish details of foreign nationals under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025.

The requirement applies to foreign passport holders, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders, Nepalese nationals and other foreign visitors staying at these establishments.

Form-C submission mandatory for foreign guests

Accommodation providers must submit Form-III (Form-C) through the prescribed online portal for every foreign national staying in their premises.

They must submit the information within 24 hours of the guest's arrival. In addition, they must report the departure of foreign nationals and preserve the records for at least one year after submission.

Educational institutions must share student details

The advisory also covers universities, colleges, schools, educational institutions and training institutes that admit foreign students.

These institutions must submit Form-II online. They must provide details of admission, enrolment, arrival, departure, discontinuation of studies and other prescribed information. The requirement also applies to OCI card holders and Nepalese nationals wherever applicable.

Police warn of legal consequences

Police said accommodation providers who fail to submit Form-C and institutions that do not file Form-II will violate the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.

Consequently, authorities may initiate action under the relevant provisions of the Act, including Section 23, against violators.

False information can attract penalties

Police further warned individuals and institutions against providing false information or concealing material facts.

Moreover, authorities may take penal action against anyone who violates the provisions of the Act and Rules.

Officials urged all stakeholders to follow the regulations. They said timely compliance would help authorities monitor foreign nationals staying in the city and avoid legal complications.
