HYDERABAD: A man posing as a customs official at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport allegedly duped a 53-year-old trader of ₹75,000 by offering to sell two iPhones at a lower price.
The victim, Gyam Alfred, who runs a cool drink shop at Secunderabad Railway Station, was approached by an unidentified person on February 17. The accused introduced himself as a customs official at the Hyderabad airport and offered two iPhones at a discounted rate.
Alfred agreed to purchase the phones for ₹1 lakh. He later met the accused at the departure area of the airport and paid ₹75,000 in cash.
The accused then left, saying he would return with the phones. When he did not come back, Alfred realised he had been cheated and approached the police.
