HYDERABAD: The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) offers medical education at an annual fee of ₹24,000 for children of insured workers under its Insured Persons (IP) quota.

ESIC provides free super speciality treatment to workers and their families and runs 19 medical colleges and teaching hospitals across India. It also earmarks 695 seats in medical, dental and nursing colleges for workers' children.

Quota structure and fee details

In ESIC medical colleges, 50% of seats go to state students through merit-based counselling. Another 15% fall under the All India quota. The remaining 35% are reserved for the IP quota.

Students admitted under the IP quota pay ₹24,000 per year, while others pay about ₹1 lakh annually. Additional charges include university fees, security deposit, hostel fees, and mess charges.

Telangana has 52 IP quota seats at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Sanathnagar.

Eligibility and application process

Children of workers earning up to ₹21,000 per month and covered under ESIC are eligible. Dependents of workers who died or suffered disability due to workplace injuries can also apply.

Applicants must appear for NEET (UG) 2026. Eligible candidates must apply for the IP quota by May 28, 2026.

To qualify, students must obtain the "Ward of IP" certificate through the ESIC portal. The application requires OTP verification using the worker's registered mobile number, along with documents such as photographs, date of birth proof, and NEET admit card. Female applicants must submit an affidavit as per norms.

After verification by ESIC regional office officials, the certificate can be downloaded. Candidates must then apply separately for NEET counselling. Seats are allotted based on rank, merit, preferences, and reservation category.
