HYDERABAD: An eco town is set to come up on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The project will be developed across 494 acres at Raviryal village in Abdullapurmet mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

The government is expected to begin work soon. Officials from the Revenue department, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) held detailed discussions till late Wednesday night and prepared a report based on plans shared by officials from Kitakyushu.

Visit to Japan leads to agreement for eco city

During a visit to Japan in April last year, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy toured Kitakyushu city. Impressed by its solid waste management and environmental protection measures, the Telangana government signed an agreement with city authorities to develop a similar eco-friendly township in Hyderabad.

Initially, the project was planned over 80 acres. Later, the government expanded the land allocation to 494 acres and issued orders on January 22 this year.

Japanese delegation to inspect identified land soon

After preliminary talks with the Chief Minister, Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuya Takeuchi visited Hyderabad in June last year. He met IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu and said at least 500 acres would be required for the project.

Following this, revenue officials identified land near the Outer Ring Road at Raviryal village. A Japanese delegation is expected to visit the site soon.
