HYDERABAD: A special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has convicted a 20-year-old man in a sexual offence case involving a minor girl, registered by Bollaram police in 2018.
The case was registered as Crime No. 135/2018 at Bollaram police station. Police said the investigation was carried out thoroughly by officers of Bollaram police station and Begumpet Division, with scientific, medical and documentary evidence collected and placed before the court.
Accused sentenced to rigorous imprisonment
The POCSO court convicted the accused, Mohammed Yaseen, 20, a driver and resident of Bollaram, and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of ₹11,000 and ordered payment of ₹2 lakh as compensation to the victim.

Police said a strong charge sheet was filed after investigation and the case was effectively prosecuted by the Special Additional Public Prosecutor, leading to the conviction.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, S Rashmi Perumal said the conviction reaffirmed the commitment of Hyderabad City Police and the judiciary to protect children and ensure justice in cases of sexual offences against minors.
