HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad City Police has launched internship and professional volunteer programmes to strengthen community participation and knowledge-based policing.

The initiative aims to utilise the skills of students and professionals to enhance the institutional capacity of the police department.

Internship programme details

Students below 25 years of age who are currently pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate courses are eligible to apply.

Selected interns will be assigned data analysis, research-based projects and specific tasks aligned with departmental priorities. The programme will provide practical exposure to government administration and policing systems.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, said, "Students working alongside police officers will have a platform to contribute new ideas to the department's functioning. The programme will offer valuable experience to students and bring fresh perspectives from youth to the police."

Professional volunteer programme

The police have also opened volunteer opportunities for professionals with experience in various fields.

Experts can contribute to the department's development and innovation through technical or process-oriented assignments.

Coordination and application process

All programmes will be coordinated by the SMIT Cell, which will function as the nodal unit under the direct supervision of the Police Commissioner.
