Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, has launched what it calls India's first MTech programmes that combine artificial intelligence (AI) and computational modelling with chemical engineering.
The move reflects a shift in how engineers are trained for modern process industries.
The chemical engineering department announced two postgraduate courses on Friday: MTech in AI and Machine Learning in Chemical Engineering and MTech in Computational Chemical Engineering.
These programmes aim to equip students with skills in AI, advanced simulations, and data analytics. Graduates can apply these skills in the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, and advanced materials sectors. "These courses meet the growing demand for digital expertise in chemical and allied industries," a departmental spokesperson said.
Admissions will open in the upcoming academic cycle through the Common Online Admission Portal. The institute will select candidates based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Graduates can find opportunities in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy systems, and digital manufacturing.
