In a representation to the Chief Minister, Khan said traders, mondedhars, butchers and retail meat vendors raised several complaints. They alleged that authorities had not issued trade licences. They also claimed the management failed to provide livestock trading stalls as required under the agreement. According to them, the slaughter house also lacks basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity and ladies' washrooms.

Khan further alleged that the management collected unauthorised lairage charges. He also claimed the facility remained poorly maintained despite its modernisation with public funds.

Health concerns and livelihood issues

Khan said nearly 1,000 families depend on the slaughter house for their livelihood. He alleged that stagnant wastewater, poor drainage and waste accumulation had created health risks. He also claimed a large section of the modernised facility remains closed, affecting daily operations.

Khan questioned the decision to extend the contract awarded to M/s ALHAD Exports and Naineisha Agri Products despite repeated complaints about its functioning.

MBT seeks GHMC takeover

Khan urged the government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged contract violations, unauthorised collections, administrative lapses and possible corruption. He also asked the government to cancel the contract if the allegations are proven. He further demanded that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) take direct control of the slaughter house in the public interest.

The state government and the contractor had not responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
