Miyapur consultancy dupes job seekers of lakhs

Miyapur consultancy dupes job seekers of lakhs

HYDERABAD: A consultancy firm allegedly collected lakhs of rupees from unemployed youth by promising jobs in Israel and later shut down its office in Miyapur.

Victims lodged a complaint with Miyapur police seeking action against the firm's organisers.

According to the complainants, CD Overseas Consultancy operated from Hafeezpet and was run by Archana Priya, Swami Shankar and Somashekhar. The organisers allegedly collected between ₹4 lakh and ₹6 lakh each from around 90 people after assuring them of jobs in Israel.

Victims taken to Egypt instead of Israel

The victims said they were taken to Egypt in August last year instead of Israel. They alleged that the organisers kept them in different locations to prevent them from interacting with one another.

The organisers allegedly delayed the process by citing the ongoing war situation. When the victims questioned them strongly around 15 days ago, the organisers reportedly switched off their phones.

The complainants said they later received WhatsApp messages and emails stating that all the money they had paid had been exhausted.

Victims return to Hyderabad at own expense

Around 40 victims returned to Hyderabad using their own money, while more than 50 others are still stranded in Egypt, according to the complaint.

When the victims visited the office of CD Overseas Consultancy, they found it locked. They then approached Miyapur police station and filed a complaint against Archana Priya, Swami Shankar, Somashekhar and Rajendra Prasad, alleging that they had been cheated.

Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
