HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a 4 km rail bypass line between Lalaguda and Sitafalmandi on June 10.
The South Central Railway has doubled and electrified the route to enable direct train movement from Charlapalli via Moula Ali towards Kacheguda.
Works on the stretch are nearing completion. A team from the Railway Safety Commission will inspect the route on June 5.
Travel time to reduce significantly on new route
The bypass is expected to increase train speeds and reduce travel time. Passengers will be able to travel from Moula Ali to Kacheguda in about 30 minutes. The project will also ease movement for trains passing through Hyderabad from other states.
At present, several trains take more than two hours and 30 minutes to travel from Kazipet to Kacheguda via Moula Ali and Malkajgiri. With diversion through the Lalaguda-Sitafalmandi bypass, the journey time is likely to reduce to about one hour and 50 minutes.
MMTS expansion works to begin simultaneously
The Prime Minister will also launch works for the Ghatkesar-Yadadri Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) project. The 33 km corridor will be developed from Secunderabad to Rayagiri via Charlapalli and Ghatkesar.
