HYDERABAD: Ram Pothineni announced his directorial debut with his 23rd film, tentatively titled RAPO23. The project was launched on his birthday with a poster introducing his character, Veera.
Building on his versatile and energetic career, Ram has written lyrics for Andhra King Taluka and debuted as a vocalist. Now, with RAPO23, he moves into directing. The film is described as a stylish psychological action thriller, a genre rarely explored in Telugu cinema. With this project, Ram joins other stars-turned-directors like Sr. NTR, Krishna, and Pawan Kalyan.
Further illustrating the film's tone, the birthday poster introduces Ram's character, Veera, in a new look. The visual shows Ram from behind in a leather jacket with a sharp V-cut hairstyle. A bold red "V" in the background represents Veera and symbolizes rebellion, danger, and dominance. Outlines of skyscrapers suggest a crime-ridden cityscape.
Additionally, the tagline, "The Story of a Lone Wolf," suggests a protagonist shaped by solitude, instinct, and psychological depth. RAPO23 will be produced by Krishna Pothineni under the new banner Rapo Cinematics. Filming begins in June, with a planned release in December.
