HYDERABAD: A representation submitted to the District Collector and Magistrate of Ranga Reddy district on June 2, 2026 has sought an urgent inquiry into land records relating to Survey No. 696 in Janwada village of Shankarpally mandal.
The petitioner addressed the representation to the Collector in his capacity as Chairman under the Telangana Assigned Lands framework and marked copies to the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Secretariat and the Telangana High Court.
Questions raised over assigned land status
Referring to the Telangana Prohibition of Transfer of Assigned Lands Act, 1977, the representation raised questions regarding the extent and classification of land in Survey No. 696. It sought official clarification on whether the entire survey number comprises assigned land or whether portions of it are non-assigned land.
The petitioner also referred to election affidavit disclosures made by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Konidala Pawan Kalyan. According to the representation, the affidavit declared ownership of two agricultural land parcels of four acres each in Survey No. 696.
Inquiry sought into survey records and subdivisions
The representation claimed that land records and the Bhubharati portal reflect only subdivision numbers and sought clarification on how Survey No. 696 was cited in the affidavit. It also referred to one subdivision number recorded as "696/అ10/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1".
The petitioner requested authorities to determine whether the land declared by Pawan Kalyan falls under assigned land covered by the Prohibition of Transfer of Assigned Lands Act. The representation further sought clarification on whether any such land could legally be held by a person who was not a beneficiary under the category of "landless poor persons".
The petitioner also questioned why possession had not been resumed by authorities, along with any built-up structures or agricultural produce, if the land was found to be assigned land. The representation referred to an alleged update of the prohibited register dated October 28, 2025.
The representation requested the district administration to conduct an inquiry and place authenticated land records in the public domain.
