HYDERABAD: Bandlaguda police in Rajendra Nagar zone arrested a real estate broker for allegedly cheating multiple victims by posing as a property owner and executing fraudulent mortgage agreements.
The case was registered following a complaint by Mohammed Nusrath Begum, a resident of Bandlaguda, who alleged she paid ₹3,00,000 to the accused after taking a house on mortgage. The accused had falsely claimed ownership of the property.
Accused used rented houses to fake ownership claims
Police said the accused, working as real estate brokers, conspired to cheat unsuspecting persons. They allegedly took houses on rent, posed as owners, and mortgaged the properties to victims to collect money.

The arrested accused has been identified as Shaik Omer Amoodi (raw: Shaik Omer Amoodi; corrected: Shaik Omer Amoodi), 24, a resident of Ali Nagar, Balapur in Rangareddy district.
Other accused include Mohammed Bin Osman Masqati (raw: Mohammed Bin Osman Masqati; corrected: Mohammed Bin Osman Masqati), 26, and Mohammed Basith, Ali Jabri, and Shakeer Hussain. Police said all four are on the run.
One arrested, four accused still on the run
Based on credible information, police apprehended Amoodi on March 25, 2026. During interrogation, he confessed to his role in the offence along with the other accused, police said.
Efforts are under way to trace the absconding accused. Police are also identifying other victims and tracking the money trail to determine the full extent of the fraud.
Police advised the public to verify ownership documents before entering property transactions or making payments.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of S. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Nagar Zone, and A. Sudhakar, Assistant Commissioner of Police. Inspector R. Devender and Sub-Inspector S. Nagaraj Reddy were part of the team.
