Revanth said the Centre's decision to deny permission for his proposed US visit could affect investments coming to Telangana.

"Prime Minister Modi and BJP chief ministers can travel abroad, but they are reportedly stopping my foreign visit as the Telangana chief minister," he said at a media conference at the state secretariat.

Revanth questions denial of permission for US visit

"The Union government is a combination of the states. This is the spirit of Indian democracy," Revanth said.

He said the itinerary for his foreign visit had been prepared with a focus on education, sports and investments.

"Telangana government is moving ahead with an action plan to take the state's development forward," he said.

Revanth said the government had provided complete details of the proposed foreign visit to the Ministry of External Affairs.

He said the ministry had granted permission for his visit to England but denied permission for the US leg of the tour.

"Everyone criticised the Centre's approach in this matter," he said.

Revanth also alleged that BJP leaders had made personal allegations against him after the Centre rejected his visit.

"Instead of stopping at rejecting my visit, BJP leaders made personal political allegations against me," he said.

He accused BJP leaders of making "false statements" against the government and the official visit.

"I do not want to raise political issues regarding the BJP's approach. This concerns two governments," Revanth said.

He said complete details of the US visit had been submitted to the Ministry of External Affairs and that the government had been told the visit was being rejected for political reasons.

"The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, should explain what those political reasons are," he said.

CM alleges discrimination against Telangana over investments

Revanth said the Gujarat chief minister had been permitted to travel to the US and Canada from August 17 to 28 for investment promotion under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative.

"But when I wanted to visit America as part of Telangana Rising 2047, I was stopped," he said.

"If there was really no issue with my foreign visit, why was permission given for England and denied for America?" Revanth asked.

He said Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar had studied in England and later became leaders who shaped the country.

"Those who are economically backward do not have the opportunity to study abroad. We are trying to bring foreign education and sports opportunities here," he said.

Revanth said the government believed foreign visits could help achieve that objective.

He alleged that Prime Minister Modi was "still behaving as a Gujarati" rather than as the Prime Minister of India.

"This is not a personal insult to Revanth Reddy. This is an injustice to the 4 crore people of Telangana," he said.

He called for the issue to be condemned beyond political lines.

"Stopping the Telangana chief minister's visit is opposing Telangana's development," Revanth said.

He alleged that the Centre's approach showed discrimination against Telangana.

"Our MPs will raise this issue in Parliament," he said.

Revanth alleged that the Centre had blocked his visit because it did not want Gujarat's development to face competition.

"This is political discrimination. It is an attempt to obstruct Telangana's development," he said.

"We unanimously condemn the Centre's approach. This is against the spirit of federalism," he added.

Revanth said the Centre could stop his foreign visit but could not prevent him from pursuing his objectives.

"You may stop my visit, but you cannot stop me from achieving my goal," he said.

Telangana Global Summit planned for December

Revanth said the Telangana government would organise the Telangana Global Summit 2026 under Invest Telangana on December 8 and 9.

"We will invite investments in education and sports," he said.

Responding to criticism that he had not provided adequate details of the visit, Revanth said it was an official tour and all programmes would be conducted under the supervision of the Indian embassy concerned.

"This is not something being done secretly. We have provided all the details to the Ministry of External Affairs," he said.

Revanth alleged that Telangana was being discriminated against by Prime Minister Modi and accused the "Gujarati leadership" of conspiring to obstruct the state's development.
