MANCHERIAL: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) drivers and their family members staged a dharna in front of the Mancherial RTC depot on Monday, alleging that several drivers were being denied duty after breath analyser tests reportedly showed positive alcohol readings.
The protesting drivers claimed that the breath analyser machines were producing inaccurate results even when they had not consumed alcohol. They alleged that officials were refusing to allow them to operate buses based on the test results.
The drivers demanded that the RTC authorities replace the existing breath analyser machines immediately and conduct tests using reliable equipment.

Protest disrupts bus operations at depot
RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders extended support to the protest. Following the agitation, several buses remained off the roads from the depot, affecting services in the region.
The protesters said drivers were facing humiliation and loss of duty despite maintaining sobriety. They urged the RTC management to address the issue without penalising staff based on allegedly faulty readings.
RTC officials had not issued an official response at the time of filing this report.
