Shamshabad airport launches real-time lost-and-found tracking platform

Shamshabad airport launches real-time lost-and-found tracking platform

HYDERABAD: GMR Hyderabad International Airport has launched a real-time lost-and-found tracking and communication platform to help passengers report lost belongings, track requests and receive updates on the recovery process.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) said on October 12, 2026, that the platform is the first of its kind across GMR airports. It brings the reporting of lost items, request tracking and passenger communication onto a single digital platform.

The system allows passengers to register details of lost belongings and monitor the status of their requests online. It also provides updates at different stages of the process, from identifying and verifying an item to returning it to its owner.

Passengers can register and track lost-item requests online

Passengers can use the airport's lost-and-found portal to submit a request by clicking on the 'Raise a Request' option. They must enter their name, email address and contact details before selecting the category that best matches the lost item.

The form requires details of where and when the item was lost, along with a description. Passengers can also upload a photograph of the item, if available, to help identify it.

Once the request is submitted, the passenger receives a unique reference ID by email. This ID can be used to track the request online and check its progress.

Passengers can also communicate securely with the lost-and-found team when further information or verification is required. The platform supports the process until the item is identified, verified and returned.

GHIAL says digital system will improve transparency and response

GHIAL chief executive officer Kadir Kadiravan said the airport was continuing to improve passenger services through innovation and digital transformation.

"We are happy to launch the real-time lost-and-found tracking and communication platform for passengers, a first across GMR airports," he said.

He said the platform had been designed to make the recovery process more transparent and convenient. Passengers can register lost-item details on a single digital platform, track the status of their requests and receive timely information.

The system is intended to provide greater clarity, improve response times and simplify the process of recovering lost belongings, he added.

Platform reflects airport's focus on technology-led services

GHIAL said the initiative reflects its continued focus on using technology to improve passenger services and make airport operations more efficient.

Passengers can use the service through the Hyderabad airport's lost-and-found page: https://www.hyderabad.aero/lost-and-found
