HYDERABAD: City shuttler Shriyansi Valishetty won the gold medal at the Mexican International Challenge Shuttle Badminton Tournament in Mexico, adding another international title to her career.
Hyderabad shuttler beats Brazilian player in final
Shriyansi defeated Brazil's Juliana Viana Vieira in the women's singles final to clinch the title. The win marks a major achievement for the Hyderabad-based player on the international badminton circuit.
Nalgonda family settles in Hyderabad
Originally from Nalgonda district, Shriyansi's family is now settled in Hyderabad. Her father Ramakrishna works as an inspector at Chilakalaguda police station, while her mother Anupama is a school assistant.
Shriyansi is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at KLN University in Hyderabad and trains at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy.
Olympic medal remains long-term target
Having already won several international medals earlier, Shriyansi said her long-term goal is to win an Olympic medal for India.
