HYDERABAD: The Telangana App Based Drivers Forum, together with several trade unions and workers' organizations, has given a final warning to the Government and app-based platform companies.
They have announced an indefinite strike starting August 8, 2026, if their long-standing demands are not met right away.
This decision comes after the Statewide Breakdown Flash Strike on July 22, 2026. Nearly 390,000 gig and platform workers across Telangana joined the strike. App-based cab drivers, auto drivers, delivery workers, and other platform workers all took part, showing unity.
However, the unions say that, even after many meetings and requests to the Government and companies, no real action has been taken. As a result, workers still have falling earnings, unfair fare rules, confusing computer decisions, and no social security. Because of this, they feel they have no choice but to start an indefinite strike.

The unions have made three main demands. First, they want the Government and companies to set a minimum base fare and fair rates per kilometer and per minute for all app-based transport services. This would help drivers, delivery workers, and other gig workers earn fair pay. Second, they want the Government to quickly announce the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Rules and set up a Welfare Board.
"Third, we want the Government to put the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025 into action. This means setting minimum fares, making fair rules, and stopping private cars from being used for commercial rides and deliveries unless they are registered as commercial vehicles, as the law requires,"said Shaik Salauddin.
The unions say this is the last chance for the Government and companies to work with them and solve these demands. If nothing changes before August 8, 2026, they will start the strike as planned. The unions also said that any problems with app-based transport and delivery services in Telangana will be the Government's and companies' fault for not protecting the rights and jobs of thousands of gig workers.
Committee members like Shaik Salauddin, Ajay Babu, A. Nagesh Kumar, Inayath Ali Bakri, M A Saleem, Rama Krishna Reddy, Abdul Rawoof, and Santosh Kumar all signed the warning.
