The State government will bear the entire cost of the programme.

Speaking at the Finland and Germany Exposure Programme in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to build world-class government schools. He said the programme will follow the model of overseas training offered to IAS and IPS officers.

"From now on, we will provide teachers with opportunities to go abroad for further studies. Plans must ensure that the government bears the cost of quality education," he said.

Government prepares roadmap for education reforms

The Chief Minister directed officials to submit a comprehensive action plan for the next academic year by December. He asked them to prepare the plan using a cluster-based approach at the mandal level.

He said government schools admitted one lakh additional students this academic year. According to him, the State spends around ₹1.08 lakh every year on each student. In comparison, parents spend nearly ₹50,000 a year on private school education.

Reddy also announced that the government will extend free breakfast, mid-day meals and uniforms to students from Nursery to Class XII.

Teachers asked to build globally competitive schools

The Chief Minister urged teachers to build institutions that can compete with the best in the world. He said a lack of education, not social or economic background, causes educational backwardness.

He asked teachers to instil discipline, human values and global competitiveness in students.

"If English were the only criterion, China would not have dominated the world," he said.

Reddy said Telangana should learn from countries such as Germany, Japan and Singapore while strengthening education and skill development.

He also highlighted key reforms. These include upgrading ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs), recruiting teachers and setting up a Skills University with support from global industry leaders.

CM rejects resignation demand

Responding to opposition demands for his resignation as Education Minister, Reddy questioned whether critics opposed welfare schemes, timely salary payments or improvements in school infrastructure.

He said the government remains committed to resolving teachers' issues. He also urged teachers' associations to focus on student welfare and institutional development.

The Chief Minister said the Congress government would remain in office until 2034.

Criticises Centre over rising national debt

Reddy also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the increase in India's public debt.

He claimed that governments from Independence to 2014 accumulated around ₹50 lakh crore in debt. He said governments added another ₹151 lakh crore between 2014 and 2026, taking the total to about ₹201 lakh crore.

Credits Nehru and PV Narasimha Rao

The Chief Minister praised former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and PV Narasimha Rao for their contributions to India's development.

He credited Nehru with launching major irrigation projects and introducing Five-Year Plans. He said these initiatives helped Telangana achieve annual paddy production of 28.5 million metric tonnes.

Reddy also credited PV Narasimha Rao with introducing residential school models that later inspired the Navodaya Vidyalaya system.

Concluding his speech, the Chief Minister called on teachers to dedicate the next five years to transforming Telangana's government schools into national models of public education.
