Until now, the scheme covered only students. The decision will benefit nearly 1.5 lakh teachers, lecturers and support staff across the state.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the first phase of the Musi Riverfront Development Project. It also cleared recruitment for Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) super specialty hospitals. Furthermore, it approved implementing the Centre's VBG Ram G Act from July 1, 2026, while deciding to challenge the law in the Supreme Court. The Cabinet also sanctioned several land allotments for educational institutions and warehousing facilities.

Telangana approves ₹7,345 crore Musi Riverfront project

The Cabinet gave administrative approval for Phase I of the Musi Riverfront Development Project at an estimated cost of ₹7,345.12 crore.

The project will cover a 21-km stretch. It extends from the confluence of the Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar streams to Bapughat. Besides this, the government approved the creation of 147 posts for the project. It also authorised the deputation of officials from other government departments whenever required.

Telangana to challenge Centre's VBG Ram G Act

The Cabinet discussed the implementation of the Centre's VBG Ram G Act and opposed the legislation. According to ministers, the Centre enacted the law without consulting the states.

However, officials informed the Cabinet that all states had decided to implement the Act. Therefore, to avoid disruption of employment under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the Cabinet approved a notification to implement the Act in Telangana from July 1, 2026.

At the same time, the state government decided to challenge the law in the Supreme Court. It also plans to raise the issue in Parliament.

Cabinet sanctions 6,278 posts for TIMS hospitals

The Cabinet approved 6,278 posts for the newly established TIMS Super Specialty Hospitals at Sanath Nagar, LB Nagar and Alwal. It also approved staffing for the Super Specialty Hospital in Warangal.

The sanctioned strength includes 1,494 regular posts, 549 contract posts and 4,235 outsourced posts.

Meanwhile, the government plans to develop these hospitals on the lines of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also directed officials to extend Letters of Credit under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to eligible patients admitted to these hospitals.

Government allots land for warehouses and schools

The Cabinet allotted 50 acres at Bollikunta village in Nekkonda mandal of Warangal district to the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation. In addition, it allotted 10 acres at Karkalpahad village in Kadtal mandal of Rangareddy district. The corporation will use the land to build warehouses for storing essential commodities.

Furthermore, the government allotted 20.18 acres at Peddayipally village in Mahabubnagar district and 19.12 acres at Kodad in Suryapet district for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

Finally, the Cabinet allotted five acres at Chalgal village in Jagtial district for establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
