HYDERABAD: The Telangana IAS Association has lodged a police complaint against several television channels and social media news handles for broadcasting and amplifying an unverified report alleging a "close relationship" between a state minister and a woman IAS officer.
The complaint was filed on behalf of the association by special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, officials said. The association alleged that the broadcast and subsequent social media posts violated privacy and damaged the dignity of civil servants.
Police have registered cases against NTV, Prime9 News, Telugu Scribe, Mirror TV, Signal TV, and other social media news handles named in the complaint.
The association urged action against the dissemination of unverified and defamatory content, and sought accountability from platforms that circulated the allegations.
